More colour is hitting the cosmetic industry. Benefit Cosmetics does not only present its eye shadows and blushes according to the 1970s glamour, but also its packaging – a design by Matthew Williamson. In celebration of the 15th anniversary of both, the famous cosmetic brand from San Francisco – which belongs to the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton – and the British fashion designer, the limited make-up kit was born. The vivid collection is called ‘The Rich is back’ and comes with Matthew Williamson’s wild animals collages. The vibrant and kaleidoscopic prints bring back the ‘Bohemian Glamour’ and remind of the designers iconic styles on the runway.
Like always, the Benefit gift-box is characterised by its elaborate design. It does not only incorporate a magnet closure, but also several glued and upholstered inner parts. Moreover, the gift-box is placed in another folding box that comes matte-lacquered and includes a printed interior. Although, we would have liked more brilliant colours and hot foil stamping (preferably in gold), we are delighted by the result of the cooperation.
In the US, the new Benefit collection is available at Sephora, in the UK it is offered at Debenhams and Benefit Boutiques. In Germany the make-up kit can be purchased in some selected stores such as the KaDeWe Berlin, Oberpollinger Munich and Alsterhaus Hamburg since last Monday.
